This year we had the Mock Trial again and before I started I just wanted to thank all the people that helped us with this. 5/6th grade, John, Kasra, Rob, Carwai, Megan, and Elizabeth. I think it was a lot more successful then last years, and I liked the fact that we got to do more things ourselves instead of having them handed to us. I thought that the jury was ok but I heard from most of the jury that they weren’t prepared to talk in front of everyone and I think they should’ve been at least told, and the other thing is that I’m not sure if this is how it is in real life but is the jury supposed to be formally dressed? I thought it would’ve looked nicer if they were formally dressed.

Something worth mentioning was that the people who had their trial in the Common Room had it easier because they didn’t have to speak that loud, on the other had I was in the Auditorium and I was talking as loud as I was comfortable with and after it was over a lot of people still told me that I should speak up next time.

Other then that, I thought it was great and the a lot of people complained about how the jury already was on the defense side and the prosecution (me) had it harder because they were already on-board with the defense, but I didn’t find that a problem at all. I think a lot of people took this too seriously because they started getting paranoid about winning and losing but the only thing that really mattered is if you now understand what going to court is like.

A lot of people may either totally disagree with this or totally agree with me when I say that I think we should’ve had longer then a week to prepare for the trial. I had the last second rush which is very stressful. I am not asking for months just maybe 2 or 3 more days would’ve been fine. Even though the defense got that the prosecution didn’t get that and the only issue with that is that after editing our’s we didn’t have John to double-check our statement’s but the defense did. At least we got to work on it that day at least, which I am very thankful for because without that I would’ve been in deep trouble.

One thing that would make Mock Trial a lot less stressful for me is that when we got time with John/Kasra that we either had less time and more days or same time with longer break’s because after 1 hour and 30 minutes I was exhausted and needed to eat, stretch, and talk to people. And after that time I totally zoned-out, was starving, and really tired. I always look forward to Mock Trial and I enjoy the final product were when it’s over and you just did a fantastic job and everyone in the audience is clapping for YOU even though it’s for everyone else too.
